Pregnancy Portions

So yesterday my wonderful hubby made me dinner after church.
And he came up with it all on his own and without prompting!

His time of enduring me watching the FoodNetwork is manifesting I believe.

I’m so proud of him. Because seriously it was tasty.

Hubby took steaks that we had made the other night (ok, he had made, I am not super grill savvy) and sliced em up thin and pretty.

Then he made fettuccini (about 3 serving sizes according to the back of the Barilla box).

Added on the side a little broccoli in butter. Yum.
Broccoli needs butter, ranch, or cheese to be edible. Just saying.

And to top it off – Alfredo sauce from scratch!

SO SERIOUSLY GOOD.

Here is the recipe for our Alfredo Sauce!

2 tablespoons of butter
2 tablespoons of flour
1 cup of whole milk (or cream would be lovely)
Pinch of Salt (approx 1 teaspoon)
Sprinkle of Pepper (approx ¼ teaspoon)
½ cup (4 oz) grated Parmesan cheese

Start out making a roux. Mix the butter and the flour in a saucepan over medium heat until it smells more like butter than like flour and there are no clumps.
(about 2 minutes or so)

Then add a splash of the milk and stir until it’s all mixed together. Then add the rest of the milk and turn the heat up to medium high.

Add in the salt and pepper while it’s getting hot. It takes about 5-8 minutes and it will start to thicken and look more like sauce instead of like milk! Make sure to stir frequently so it doesn’t set up on the bottom of your pan.

Once it has thickened up a little, add in the cheese. Stir until all melted.

Voila! All done. You now have Alfredo. Pour it over your noodles.
(Or really anything. I had it on a slice of bread today as a snack and it was fabulous).

Here is Hubby's finished presentation (he definitely gets points for presentation don't you think? It looks like restaurant food!)

And then of course there is my pregnancy portion...

 Enjoy!
